UPCOMING:
ALDA
Premiering in 2022.
ALDA is a dance performance installation that draws upon the history of women’s collective physical labour and in particular its relation to repetitive motions and song, to generate a situation of intimate female assembly, convergence, and coalescence.
AVAILABLE WORKS 2021:
DANCING (TO) (2020)
Performed by Katrín Gunnarsdóttir.
In this new solo work, Katrín continues her research into the labour of the dancer, uncovering her hidden studio practices and methods. DANCING (TO) is a ritual, a warm-up, a dancing practice.
THEL (2019)
Performed by The Iceland Dance Company.
THEL is a collective organism, a mass movement. An organic mass, listening and searching for support through repetitive motion and song, creating a situation of compassion and intimacy.
Katrín received Choreographer of the Year award and Shota Inoue Dancer of the year for Thel at the 2020 Icelandic Performing Arts Award.
CRESCENDO (2018)
Performed by Heba Eir Kjeld, Snædís Lilja Ingadóttir & Védís Kjartansdóttir.
This triple-headed, triple-voiced, triple-bodied solo, creates a space of great tenderness, care, and attention, in which three can attempt to become one.
CRESCENDO, not as a climax, but as a quiet wave. A quiet passing through a trio of bodies, conjoined by an ever-mutating flow of movements, song, and listening. CRESCENDO received Performance of the Year and Outstanding Sound Design award at the 2018 Icelandic Performing Arts Awards.
